Embossed SMALLY KIVLAN ONTHANK Fruit Jar Boston.

Embossed top to bottom:
LIGHT
SKO
QUEEN
TRADE MARK

This jar would date in the range of 1907 - 1921.

Embossed SMALLEY KIVLAN ONTHANK BOSTON.

Presumably the type of closure that would have been used.

Smalley, Kivlan & Onthank, Boston, Massachussets (1907-1921) Information about this firm is sparse. After the lawsuit that forced them to discontinue the use of the Smalley Jar Co. name, Edgar Smalley, John L. Kivlan, and Charles F. Onthank reorganized as Smalley, Kivlan & Onthank at 21 Blackstone in 1907. Toulouse (1971:312) set the date when the firm became Kivlan & Onthank at 1919, but Roller (1983:301) noted the reorganization after Edgar Smalley’s death in 1921. Even though John Kivlan and Charles Onthank stopped using Smalley’s name in 1921, they did not officially end the business until the courts forced involuntary bankruptcy on the pair as Smalley, Kivlan & Onthank on September 15, 1925 (Boston Herald 9/16/1925).

PRESTO Canning Jars

PRESTO SUPREME MASON Jar with Top.

Maybe a couple months ago I did a post showing some Ball Mason jars and mentioned some of he other brands.  On the heal is embossed MFG. by Illinois Glass Works.

Unlike many, this jar has its metal top intact, as shown below.

Top of Same Presto Canning Jar.

The Illinois Glass Co. merged with the Owens Bottle Co. in 1929 to create the massive Owens-Illinois Glass Co.  This jar was therefore manufactured prior to 1929.

Three Other Presto Jars From the Treasure Coast.

The left most jar is embosssed PRESTO GLASS TOP and on the heal, Mfg. by Illinois Glass Works.

Center, PRESTO and on the heal Mfg. by Illinois Glass Works.

And right, PRESTO Superior Mason, and on the bottom (not the heal) OWENS ILLINOIS GLASS COMPANY.  So this one would presumably be from after 1929.

Here are a variety of jars produced by the Illinois Glass Company.

For much more information on the Illinois Glass Company, which made many other kinds of jars, see IGCo.pdf (sha.org).

By the way the metal tops, if in good condition, are worth a couple dollars.

Pint Atlas E-Z Seal Canning Jar.

Here is an Atlas E-Z Seal bottle I found a good while ago.  As you can see, I never cleaned it up.  It still has dirt on it.  Most importantly, it is missing it's top.  I like it, but nothing special.

Then I found one that cleaned up super well.

Atlas E-Z Seal Pint Jar in Great Condition.

It has some great bubbles too.

The Atlas E-Z Seal jar, produced from the early 1900s to the 1950s, is a popular style among collectors due to its unique lid locking system. The jar has the Atlas name in block letters and the embossed “E-Z Seal,” a design that sets it apart from other Atlas Mason jars...

Those with bubbles, I would presume would be from the early part of that date range.  With more research, I could probably narrow down the likely date of these particular jars.

Embossed Tropical CANNERS Jar.

Tropical Canners Bottle.

Embossed:  Tropical, TF (in diamond), CANNERS.

Concerning a similar Tropical CANNERS bottle on antiquebottles.net, I found the following information provided by jarsnstuff.

Made ca. 1930's-1947 by Florida Glass Co., Jacksonville and 1950-1954 by Tropical Glass & Box Co. also of Jacksonville. Some jars have a ghosted FG on the base, apparently for Florida Glass.

Here is the link.
